Moving Your Vehicle After a Minor Collision
If you are involved in a minor collision, you may move your vehicle to the nearest safe location only if all of the following apply:
- No one has been injured.
- Police attendance is not required.
- Your vehicle does not require towing.
- No government vehicle is involved.
- Moving the vehicle will not cause additional damage to the vehicles or the road.
Before moving your vehicle, complete these important steps:
1. Stay Calm and Secure the Area
- Turn on your vehicle’s hazard warning lights.
- Place a warning triangle or sign at a safe distance behind your vehicle.
2. Contact Your Insurance Company
Call your insurance company immediately. An Accident Care representative must attend the scene and officially register the incident, even if you have moved your vehicle to a safer location.
3. Exchange Information
Confirm that the other vehicle has valid insurance and exchange the following information with the other driver:
- Full name
- Telephone number
- Driving licence details

- Insurance policy number
- Insurance company
4. Take Photographs
Take clear photographs of:
- The position of all vehicles before they are moved
- Vehicle registration plates
- All visible damage
- The surrounding area and road conditions
5. Share the Photographs
Exchange the photographs with the other driver and send them to the Accident Care representative assigned by your insurance company.
